Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the Civic deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The Civic’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The Integra’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

Both the Civic and the Integra have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

There are almost 4 times as many Honda dealers as there are Acura dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Civic’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Civic second among compact cars in their 2023 Initial Quality Study. The Integra isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Honda vehicles are better in initial quality than Acura vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Honda above average in initial quality. With 17 more problems per 100 vehicles, Acura is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Honda vehicles are more reliable than Acura With 14 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Honda higher than Acura.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2023 Auto Issue reports that Honda vehicles are more reliable than Acura vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Honda 3 places higher in reliability than Acura.

As tested in Motor Trend the Civic EX/EX-L/Touring 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder is faster than the Acura Integra 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder (automatics tested):

Regardless of its engine, the Civic’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Integra Type S doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Civic stops shorter than the Integra:

The Civic Touring Sedan handles at .88 G’s, while the Integra A-Spec Technology pulls only .87 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Civic Touring Sedan executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Integra A-Spec Technology (26.7 seconds @ .64 average G’s vs. 27.2 seconds @ .63 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Civic LX/EX/EX-L’s turning circle is 2 feet tighter than the Integra’s (36.1 feet vs. 38.1 feet). The Civic Sport/Touring’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the Integra Type S’ (38.1 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

The Civic Sedan is 6.8 inches shorter than the Integra, making the Civic easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the Civic Touring Sedan is quieter than the Integra Type S:

The Civic has 3.2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Integra (99 vs. 95.8).

The Civic has .7 inches more front headroom and .7 inches more rear headroom than the Integra.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The Civic’s headlights were rated “Good” by the IIHS, while the Integra’s headlights are rated “Acceptable.”

With standard voice command, the Civic Touring offers the driver hands free control of the radio and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The Integra doesn’t offer a voice control system.

The Honda Civic comes in sedan and four door hatchback bodystyles; the Acura Integra isn’t available as a sedan.
